An Odoo implementation goes faster when the basics are decided before the first workshop. Use this checklist with your team.
- What problems must Odoo solve first? Pick the three that matter most.
- Which apps are in phase 1? For example CRM, Sales, Inventory and Accounting, and what waits for phase 2.
- Community or Enterprise? This affects apps, hosting and upgrades.
- Where will Odoo be hosted? Odoo Online, Odoo.sh, cloud server or on-premise.
- What data will you migrate? Products, customers, suppliers, open orders, opening balances, and who cleans it.
- Which systems must connect? Online store, payment gateways, banks, shipping carriers.
- Who are the key users? One owner per department who can make decisions and test.
- What must be custom? Keep customisation to what gives real business value.
- How will people be trained? Role-based sessions and short guides work best.
- What is the go-live date, and the fallback plan?
Keep the first phase small
Going live with a focused first phase, then adding apps, is almost always faster and cheaper than trying to launch everything at once.
